Police officers in Mombasa have revealed that a police officer attached at the central police stastion,who is alleged to have been beaten by suspected criminals under the watchful eyes of his fellow officers had smoked bhang and turned violent.
According to a police signal seen during the publication of this article,police Constable Samuel Mutinda had been arrested by his counterparts from likoni police stastion after it was established that he had stormed sweet waters bar in likoni and caused disturbance.
Sweet Waters Club is located along ferry-Shelly beach road directly opposite to cooperative bank.
“Eye witnesses at the bar during the incident reported that he alongside others were smoking bhangi inside the bar that promoted members of the public to react in a bid to arrest them,during the commotion the suspects were roughed up and overpowered thus escaping towards ferry area where they were noticed by private security guards looking suspicious and informed ferry police officers ” reads part of the police report.
According to preliminary investigations, Mutinda had given his uniform and handcuffs to his cousin named Samwel Wambua,a bodaboda rider. Further police established that the said officer was not on duty and his alleged reporting to central police stastion OCS was a cover up to his unknown activities in the area.
