Likoni sub-county police commander Joseph Kyalo Mutungi has issued a Stern warning against persons spreading false claims of disappearing genitals in the area after receiving unknown calls or being touched by strangers.

Mutungi strongly warned against sharing and circulating these unverified claims confirming that one person was already in their custody.

Ali Hamisi Bashir was arrested yesterday at Ferry area in Likoni after he accused Juma Saidi Mwachipanga of stealing his private parts.

Mwachipanga was assaulted by members of the public before was rescued by the police .

Hamisi is currently held at Likoni police station pending processing and court arraignment.

The police commander noted that the suspect is set to face charges of assault and incitement

Social media posts and videos have been circulating claiming that people (mostly men) are losing their private parts simply by being tapped or touched by strangers.

Twelve other people have been arrested in Diani in Kwale and Mtopanga in Mombasa over the viral rumour.
