A 24-year-old bodaboda rider is fighting for his life at Beyond scope Hospital after he was violently attacked by four armed robbers at Bakarani area in Kisauni Mombasa.

Chai Chivasti was on his way to Sunlight area with a passenger when he was seriously attacked by the robbers before taking away his motorbike, mobile phone and money leaving him in critical condition

Chivasti sustained serious injuries in the head, legs and hands. Some of his fingers were chopped off.

The incident marked the second in a span of one month the robbers were targeting bodaboda operators in the area

On September 12, this year another rider was attacked by a five-member gang at Mwandoni area where he also lost his motorbike.

28-yaer-old Joseph Karank Mwai from Mtopanga’s Gas field area said was with a passenger at around 8pm when he was accosted by the armed criminals who left him with serious injuries.

He sustained deep cuts in the head and fingers.

Mwai noted that he was rescued by good Samaritans who rushed him to Beyond scope Hospital where he was treated and discharged.

The matter was reported at Mbungoni police station under OB number 27/12/09/2026.

Residents who spoke to Alshifaa reporters expressed fear with the worrying trend that they said was threatening security in the area.
