A man has been charged for the offense of stealing wheat flour valued at 145 million shillings. The wheat flour is believed to be the ,property of Mombasa businessman Mohammed Jaffar. The accused Ali Mohammed Ali appeared before, Mombasa principal magistrate Gladys Ollimo and pleaded not guilty to charges of stealing.

The court heard that on diverse dates of January 19, and June 30 2022 at Grain industries limited in Mvita Subcounty within Mombasa county in the republic of Kenya jointly with others before court being an employee of Grain industries limited stole wheat flour valued at Kshs 145 million the property of grain industries.

The charges further stated that the wheat came into the suspects possession by virtue of his employment as the credit controller at the Grain Industries.

According to police the wheat flour is yet to be recovered and it is believed to have been resold been, across the country.

Grain industries is owned by Mombasa tycoon Jaffar who is currently battling a civil suit filed by Atta Kenya Limited over claims of being defrauded Kshs 730 million through sale of 13,000 metric tonnes of wheat which was being stored at the silos in the year 2013 and 2014.

Atta Kenya has sued Kenya Revenue Authority ( KRA) grain bulk handlers now known as Bulk stream alongside Grain industries Limited.

Ali was released on a bond of kshs 7million.
