Police in Mtwapa have yet again arrested another suspect while in possession of 49 Mobile phones suspected to have been stolen bringing the total number of suspects arrested in the ongoing operation to ten.
According to police reports, 48-year-old Eddy Kaloki was arrested in the outskirts of Mtwapa town within Kilifi County in a small room where 49 Mobile Phones of different brands were recovered.
”A team of officers from Mtwapa police station conducted an intelligence led operation to recover suspected stolen mobile phones within Mtwapa township and managed to arrest one Eddy Kaloki aged 48 years.
The officers also recovered 18 sumsung, 2 iPhone, 8 Tecno,4 Nokia, 2 Redmi, one Smart 2, one Vivo, one HMD, 4 Itel,3 Infix,one Neon, one Oppo, one X-Tigi, one ZTE and one Alcatel mobile phones”. The report read in part.
Kaloki’s arrest came a day after two other suspects, Derrick Karanja and Judy Wawira were arrested in the same area and assorted electrical items suspected to be stolen recovered.
The electrical devices and cables believed to be properties of the Kenya Power and lightning company were discovered concealed in a rental house in areas of Cabros_Tausi Hotel.
In a separate incident, three Robbery With Violence Suspects were last week also arrested in the same area.
The three: Mustafa Majeza Juma alias Musto, 21, Bubbline Kitsao Kazungu alias Kuta, 26, and Abdul Mwatondo Matano alias Abdul, 20, were arrested after CCTV footage of them robbing a resident circulated on social media. The robbery incident had been reported at Mtwapa police station under OB number 10/28/01/2026.
The suspects were smoked of their hideout in Vipingo area where they had locked themselves inside a Swahili house.
During their arrest several items were also seized including 4 face Marvins, 6 mobile phones, 8 kenyan Identification cards of different persons, 2 Somali swords, 2 pangs, 2 slashers, 5 kitchen knives, a copy of cash bail receipt belonging to Mustafa in similar case where he was wanted pending warrant of arrest, among other items.
Yesterday’s arrest brings a total number of suspects arrested for violent crimes in the ongoing operation in Mtwapa to ten in a span of two weeks.
