Police have confirmed that one person lost his life after an accident occurred today along the Likoni-Ukunda road.

The police explained that the accident occurred when a motorcycle with registration number KMFL 222E that was heading to ferry from Ujamaa directions lost control and rammed into the rear of motor vehicle registration number KBU 189J which was also driving towards the same direction.

“Today, May 16, 2024, at around 0730hrs, one person lost his life on the spot through a tragic fatal road traffic accident that occurred at Harambee area along Likoni-Ukunda Highway.

“The driver of the motorcycle Reg No.KMFL 222E lost control and rammed into the rear of a Mercedes Benz driven by Bakari Suleiman Mdachi, from Ukunda direction heading towards Likoni-Ferry.

As a result of the impact the rider Abdallah Randani sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to Likoni Sub-county Hospital for treatment but succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment,” the police statement said.

According to the deceased’s son, Hailali Bitaka, his 75-year-old father who has been a bodaboda rider for a while had left their kite home for work as usual a few minutes before they received the sad news.

The body was moved to the coast general hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem as preparations for his burial went on.
